In praise of slow software
Not slow to respond — slow to change.
The best tool I use was last redesigned eleven years ago. It opens instantly, looks dated, and behaves exactly the way my hands remember. That stability is a feature nobody lists in the changelog.
We confuse shipping with progress. But for users, every redesign is a tax: relearned habits, broken muscle memory, a settled question reopened.
Fast software, slow change. That’s the combination worth aiming for.
